Emerson’s Updated Edge Technology Helps Drive Integration for Batch Processes

DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 empowers users to improve batch consistency, quality, and innovation in life sciences and other batch processing industries

Emerson, an industrial technology leader delivering advanced automation solutions, has introduced DeltaV™ Edge Environment 2.0, the newest version of its edge technology for delivering OT applications and contextualized control data anywhere in the enterprise. The updated DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 now supports batch data integration to help life sciences, chemical processing and other batch processing industries leverage their critical data in analytics applications, AI and machine learning applications, IT enterprise systems and more, whether on-premises or in the cloud.

Batch processing operations frequently require data reconciliation, aggregation and validation, driving a need for seamless data mobility to bring critical data to varied technologies across the enterprise. However, integrating control system data—critical to making key business decisions—is typically too difficult, costly and risky using traditional technologies.

DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 bridges the gap between operational technology control systems and information technology-focused applications with one-way egress of control system data via a secure, read-only replica of contextualized DeltaV distributed control system data. Armed with comprehensive control data for use in tools at the edge or in the business cloud, teams can overlay batch data with process values to identify performance deviations during batch runs. Increased visibility into batch health empowers teams to intervene earlier to prevent costly, off-specification batches.

DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 can integrate with the control system configuration hierarchy, helping clarify how configuration changes impact batch execution. OT teams also gain the ability to correlate batch-related alarms and events with other system events to identify root causes of production issues quickly and effectively.

"Life sciences operations rely on data democratization to optimize and validate their production. Emerson's Boundless Automation vision, where data silos are eliminated, will empower cross-functional teams to develop the business decisions necessary to drive competitive advantage," said Claudio Fayad, vice president of technology for Emerson's process systems and solutions business. "Emerson's DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 not only unlocks that level of data mobility but does so while preserving essential batch and process context to improve operational certainty."

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
